About

CloudServus is a reinvented blog.

What is the purpose of this blog?
I’ve spent most of my career as a Systems Engineer for a Fortune 50 company, focusing primarily on Microsoft Collaboration and Communication technologies like Exchange Server and Office Communication Server. Recently I accepted a position with a smaller, but very successful hosting company as a Messaging and Collaboration Engineer. The move has been great for me. After being at a company for as long as I had you become a little complacent. This new role has really challenged me.

Why does he have a blog?
The intent of this blog site was to store useful information for myself as I happen upon new techniques, tips, and tricks of the trade. A friend of mine found some of the information useful, so I’ve made some attempts to advertise it a little more. Hopefully you find some of this information useful and come back to visit. If you have any comments please feel free to share. There are some things I’ve “borrowed” from other people, so if I haven’t given you suffient credit I apologize.

What does “Servus” mean and why are you using it?
Servus is a term used in Bavaria (southern Germany) and Austria as a greeting or parting salutation. I compare it to “aloha” in Hawaiian. My grandparents live in a small town just south of Munich, so I’ve spent quite a bit of time there and have some strong ties. When I get off the plane in Germany I always feel like I am home. I speak fluent German, so there is no language barrier, and that area is one of the most beautiful places in the world in my opinion. If you’re planning to visit and need advice let me know. I’ll send you to some places off the beaten path.

Servus is also a bit of a play on words. To those who don’t know it’s origins, hopefully it makes them think of “service”, as I run a small consulting business on the side.
